What we do

Moorditj Kaartdijin Bidi is an Aboriginal-led pathway supporting health, community services, government and Aboriginal Community Controlled organisations to translate policy into practice. It is developed and delivered by Moorditj Koort Aboriginal Corporation, commissioned by WA Primary Health Alliance and funded by the Australian Government under the PHN Program.
How it works

Aboriginal-led, end to end

The content is written, narrated and facilitated by Aboriginal people. The resources are made to support local Aboriginal guidance and cultural authority, never to replace them.

Who delivers it

Moorditj Koort Aboriginal Corporation, an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service working across Western Australia and a member of AHCWA and NACCHO.

How you can take part

Online modules at your own pace, face-to-face workshops at your service, or a blend of both for whole teams.

Who it supports

Health and community services, government, corporate, construction, defence, and not-for-profit and community organisations.

What we hold to

Cultural safety is not something an organisation can declare for itself. It is determined by the person receiving care, and it is shaped by every interaction with a service and with the wider system.

Drawn from the first Community of Practice, where more than 100 people from across the sector worked on what makes care culturally safe.

Meet our instructors

Mark Bateman

Cultural Engagement and Partnerships Manager
Mark has worked at MKAC since 2019 and over that time has held various positions within the organisation, including MKAC's mental health programs and NDIS support co-ordination. Before joining MKAC, Mark had a varied career across the government and private sectors, including the military, mining, energy and transport, community services and training.

Annie Young

CEO
Annie Young is a Koorie woman with Wiradjuri and Yorta Yorta family connections who has lived in Western Australia for the past 13 years. With a strong background in leadership, community development and strategic partnerships, Annie is known for bridging cultural knowledge with emerging technologies. Her work focuses on creating solutions that are not only innovative, but also respectful, inclusive and community led.
